World Health Organization (WHO) had announced that COVID-19 outbreak was confirmed in China on 30th January 2020 and declared this outbreak as a global pandemic on 11th March 2020. The announcement has been widely covered by mainstream media and is considered as a “Known Event”.

Generali General Insurance wishes to inform that trip cancellation claim and all benefits related to COVID-19 for travel policies purchased on and after 31st January 2020 (for China) and 12th March 2020 (worldwide except China) will not be covered.

We assure you that every policy response in consideration to COVID-19 claim will be assessed based on the reporting of the situation, facts of each case and policy terms & conditions.

Important Policy Conditions on Loss of Deposit or Cancellation benefit:

A. Travel warning has been issued by World Health Organisation (WHO), other countries, widely published by the media (i.e. mainstream and social media etc.) and publicly known (globally and locally) on warnings imposed due to the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This is considered as a known event, which deems the cancellation of trips as necessary and unavoidable prior to your trip.

B. Your Travel Policy must be purchased before the ‘Known Event” and at least 14 days before commencement of your trip.

C. You must obtain written confirmation from your respective Travel Operators e.g. Airline, Hotel, Rental Car, Railway, Ground Tour etc, confirming the non-refundable prepaid cost of your ticket, accommodation and/or other travel operators.
